About this place
Crispy fried lotus root rests lightly atop clear soup at Ito. Located in Kanda-Matsunagacho near Akihabara Station, the shop centers its menu on two contrasting styles: Shiroito, a crisp and light salt-seasoned broth, and Kuroito, a soy-sauce broth with mellow depth. Fried fresh for each bowl, the lotus root adds a fragrant crunch that provides a memorable contrast against the delicate dashi base.
In the Shiroito Chuka Soba, clean dashi notes seep gently through the soup, paired with thin noodles that snap cleanly and invite you to drink down every drop. The Kuroito option rounds off the sharper edges of soy sauce, matching well with straight, firm-textured thin noodles. Ordering the deluxe Zeitaku version adds tender chashu pork, wontons, and an ajitama seasoned egg for layered richness.
When you want something more robust than the lighter broths, Ito also serves Shiroi Tonkotsu, a white pork-bone soup with mild creaminess. Diners can order extra noodle refills (kaedama) or round out the meal with a side of chashu rice or spicy pollack roe mentaiko rice.
The clean counter layout makes it comfortable to eat alone at an unhurried pace. Open until 23:00 on weekdays and accepting transportation IC cards for payment, it is an easy stop for a quiet bowl after work.
